Personally I really like them and have found one pretty cheap near me that needs a little TLC, wish I had the money.

I love them. I'd use it as a classy daily driver for sure.

They are cool cars, tough to find around me though. The only one on the local CL is this super rough one in brown. http://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/cto/415931…

I had one for a few years. 1981 633CSI.
Great car. You will like it if you like bigger coupes more than small coupes. The big bonus over an E30 is it has the bigger engine, and it's more rare.
My two cents:
*Get a 635CSI. I always wished I had that extra oomph.
*Wait until you find it in a color you love.
*Inspect underneath the car for cracks. I had a subframe crack that I had to get welded.
It won't be a cheap car to maintain, but it looks so classy. If you find one you love keep it for a really long time. It will only look better and better with age.

Personally, it's between the E24 and E9 for best classic BMW coupe. The E9 is sexier but the E24 isn't too far off. E24 has more modern convenience features and your typical E24 probably is in less need of repairs than your typical E9.
My imaginary wonder garage includes both an E9 3.0CSi and E24 M6.

Pointless question. Everyone likes it to some degree. To me, both this and the E9 are some of BMWs classiest high-production (as in excluding 507 & M1) cars, since they're unabashedly large, yet sporty.

Beautiful and fast.
Dangerous, unreliable, and expensive.
They are the Femme Fatale of BMWs, I think.
Unfortunately, only the ultra-rare M635CSi really had the serious power and the sexy M88/3. The M30 engine is good, but just not powerful enough for a car that heavy.
That being said, a turbo M30 engine would be awesome.

I love them an unhealthy amount. The only reason I'm throwing my money into a Volvo-shaped hole instead of a shark-shaped one was the initial purchase price of the brick. But anyways. Hhnnnngggg.

Thanks! My car was pretty fun. Of course I got one with an MT. It was light blue and looked like a shark.

How do I feel about the e24? Well, the other day I was golfing when an e24 with a 'For Sale' sign drove by. I hopped in my cart (leaving my buddy with only a 7 iron and a lot of confusion), stormed through the course, ditched the cart, and jumped a fence to catch up with the car at a red light and throw my business card through the window. That's how I feel about the e24.
